Shen Peng Elite Class presents calligraphic exhibition

A calligraphic exhibition about Shen Peng Elite class is currently on display at Hall 1, 8 and 9 from May 29 to June 6. A number of guests from all walks of life and calligraphic fans attended the opening ceremony to appreciate the feast of the traditional art. The exhibition comprises a few masterpieces by Shen Peng and the members of Shen Peng Calligraphic Elite Class.

Shenpeng Calligraphic Elite Class is a high-level training course hosted by the National Academy of Traditional Chinese Painting engaged in calligraphic creation and research. Enrolled through strict examinations, forty students are representative calligraphers and theoreticians in the fields of calligraphy, seal-cutting and theoretical study. The students makes researched onto various difficulties the calligraphy is confronting in the current cultural environment, explores the disciplines of calligraphic traditions and creation as well as the humane spirits and evaluation criteria under the current cultural circumstance. The class established definite academic views and spiritual orientation since the beginning, made innovation between the ancient calligraphy and the contemporary culture and researched onto the social and cultural value of the calligraphy at home and abroad from the artistic, academic and ideological perspectives. Through one-year practice, the class has made remarkable achievements with the originality as its academic opinion, such as creating academic atmosphere of freedom, democracy, equality and tolerance, discussing the core issue the young calligraphers are faced with and exploring a path for the high-end calligraphy education.
