Tiger Painting of Zhou, Ming'an
Author: Jia, Dejiang Date: Nov 14, 2006
The traditional Chinese painting focuses on balance of structure, color and shade; the harmonious of the painting is the key to appreciate the paintings, which is also the essential of traditional Chinese culture. Zhou paints the tiger in a non-traditional way, which is stylishly guided. No matter there are running tigers, sitting tigers, twin tigers or even a group of tigers, Zhou gives the big cats lives and makes them real. As I was watching his composition, I chose the word "spectacular" to describe what he had done. The painter succeeded the literators' feeling of Ming and Qing Daynasty, along with the spectacular feeling of the art in Tang and Song Dynasty. He perfectly put them together, and created such rarely seen paintings.
