Wang Yuechuan
He has been granted many awards for his calligraphical works and participated in various cultural activities, including:
1980: first prize in the first Calligraphy Competition among college students of Sichuan province
1981: excellence prize in the first National Calligraphy Competition among college students
1983: first prize in the calligraphy and painting exhibition held by China education Committee
1996: holding calligraphy and painting exhibition for the Chinese Department of Peking University
1998-2000: teaching literature and calligraphy in Jinze University of Japan
2001: taking part in exhibition of calligraphy education between America and china
2003: attending international calligraphy conference in South Korea
2004: hosting exchange activity on international calligraphy exhibition and college calligraphy education
2005: attending founding conference of International Calligrapher Association and exhibition conference in Seoul, South Korea and elected as the vice-chairman of the International Calligrapher Association
2006: leading delegation of Peking University to South Korea for the International Biannual Calligraphy exhibition
2007: hosting calligraphy exhibition of China, Japan and South Korea
May 2008: hosting international calligraphy exhibition for celebrating the 110th birthday anniversary of Peking University
July 2008: hosting international calligraphy exhibition in Singapore and Malaysia
Nov 2008: hosting calligraphy exhibition of famous calligraphers in South Korea
In addition, Wang Yuechuan has assisted in the production of the CCTV’s cultural program “the light of Chinese civilization” and he is also an expertise copywriter and main speaker of such branch-programs as Wang Xizhi, Calligraphy in Tang dynasty, Painting in Song and Yuan dynasties and Seal-engraving Culture.
Currently Wang Yuechuan is the vice director of the calligraphy institute of Peking University and doctoral supervisor for calligraphy majors. Many of his painting and calligraphical works have been selected into various books and collected by museums and galleries from home and abroad.
