Brief
Li Zhongliang, studied at middle school attached to Zhejiang Institute of Fine Arts in the 1960s and then served as a fine arts designer in the Central Political Department Chorus after graduated from oil Paint major of Zhejiang Institute of Fine Arts. Later, he became a full-time painter in Beijing Art Academy, during which period his oil paint “Waiting to Pass Through” won silver award in the sixth National Exhibition of Fine Arts and “Fishfag in the Southern Fujian Province” won the first prize in Beijing.
Li Zhongliang migrated to the U.S. in 1986, and served as a contracted Painter in a well-known art gallery until now.
In the 1980s, the Hong Kong Christie's Auction Co., Ltd held the first auction of modern Chinese oil paintings and Li Zhongliang was one of those earlier ones who had works for auction. With the price ranking the top 10 of the list, some media in Hong Kong at that time complimented his paintings the dark horse in the circle. The theme of Li Zhongliang’s paintings focused on figures and landscapes, especially on the amorous feelings in South China and people there. Li Zhongliang was influenced by traditional European oil paint and his painting skills were greatly appreciated by U.S. collectors. In 2004, his figure drawing was sold at a comparatively high price of 120,000 U.S. dollars.
